Celebrate Lammas ~ Count your blessings!

Lammas, often called Lughnasadh, is the first harvest celebration and while it does mark the middle of summer, most will see it as the beginning of cooler weather as Autumn starts to descend. It is a cross-quarter holiday, halfway between the Summer Solstice (Litha) and the Autumnal Equinox (Mabon). On the Wheel of the Year, it is opposite Imbolc. Since this is the first of the harvest festivals, and there's still plenty of time left in the growing season, this is a good time to make a blessing for any further abundance to come into your life.

At this time we are thankful for the first harvests of the season, mostly grains and fruits, and will include these in our sabbat feast. Traditionally this is a time to bake bread. If you've never made bread before, it can be somewhat tricky. Mostly because humidity (and sometimes altitude) plays a BIG factor in letting the dough rise! I've learned this the hard way that bread you make in CO, will not be the same sort of bread you get in OH or even FL and little tweaks will need to happen. Now, I would include my super secret bread recipe, but lemme tell ya.. it's a PAIN to get right. So in order to save everyone's sanity, I'm going to put up my second favorite bread recipe; CORN BREAD!! I absolutely love corn bread!! It's also really easy to make! Here's what you'll need:

• 1/2 cup butter
• 2/3 cup white sugar (I've also tried this with 1/3 cup of white and 1/3 cup of brown sugar! YUM!)
• 2 eggs
• 1 cup milk
• 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
• 1 cup cornmeal
• 1 cup all-purpose flour
• 1/2 teaspoon salt

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Grease an 8 inch square pan or a loaf pan.
2. Melt the butter on the stove or in microwave. Stir in sugar. Add eggs and beat until blended. Combine your milk with baking soda and stir into butter/egg mixture. Then add in cornmeal, flour, and salt.. There'll be some lumpiness so don't drive yourself crazy trying to get it smooth. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
3. Bake in the oven for 30 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. For the last few 1-2 minutes you may want to baste with some melted butter to get a nice crispy, golden brown crust.

Now besides being thankful for the fruits of our labor, this is also a great time to focus on the skills that we have since this is also known as the Festival of Lugh. Lugh is not only a God of Light, but also of arts, crafts, and skilled work! With honoring the God Lugh, games and sports are played to celebrate strength and good health. What better than an afternoon game of horseshoes in the backyard! Since we're talking arts and crafts, items made for the household at this time are also blessed with good fortune. And because we're talking about a harvest holiday here and I love crafting incense from home grown herbs and flowers, what better than a Lammas incense recipe!!

1 part Acacia, 1/2 part Anise, 1 part Chamomile, 1/2 part Cinnamon, 1/2 part Meadowsweet, and a few drops of Apple blossom oil

Combine all the dry ingredients together and apply a few drops of oil for your scent preference. Apple blossom is rather strong so take it a drop at a time!! Once you mix it all together, set it out in the light of the sun for it to be blessed before burning!  

Lammas, like Beltane, is a traditional time for handfastings. If you're already married or in a committed relationship you may consider a  renewal of vows or a statement of your commitment! Family plays an important role as well. Give your loved ones a small present to show your appreciation! As Summer's end nears, remember its warmth and generous sunlight as the nights become longer we are reminded that nothing in the Universe is constant.

Oops!! Yes, they're late... I know, I know! Things have been a little hectic lately with a possible move on the horizon and my schedule has been packed FULL this summer and now everyone getting ready to go back to school.... Mama Mia!! Aries (Mar 21 - April 19)- You could be holding yourself back this week.. maybe you'll make a wrong move and won't be able to make the changes you've been wanting or you just know that right now isn't the time to rush into anything! The end is near, but it's not really an ending, but a beginning! Transformation is key to moving forward in life. But sometimes we can compromise our beliefs. Stay true in what you are wanting to achieve and try not to hold on to the situations that are no longer benefiting you. Now isn't the time to run blindly into anything new.

Taurus (April 20 - May 20) - This week will show you much love and happiness! It is a card of pure gratitude! This isn't a card of materialism, it is much more than what the physical nature of the world gives us. When time's are tough we are holding out for the hope that this card brings us. If there have been problems in your family or in relationships, this will be the time to put aside past disagreements and create harmony. On the flip side, if you shirk away from your responsibilities, you will find more trust and faith in yourself to finally make things right.

Gemini (May 21 - June 20)- You can find your work or business really flourishing this week! If you've been working on a new path with things, you'll see it starting to pay off! Alternatively, you may also find yourself starting a new health routine or actively wanting to take better care of yourself or your environment. While this card can be one of hopes and wishes, it is also one of verification and results of the work you're doing. Though there is a slight indication you may be too dependent on others at times, when you DO put your work in you feel total satisfaction with your efforts!

Cancer (June 21 - July 22)- This week could leave you feeling like you're on a road trip without a map! And how frustrating would that be?! You'll need to be careful with picking your battles, otherwise you could just be fighting for a lost cause. This won't be the time to try and figure it all out either. But with your lunar emotional self, don't blame yourself for trying! Your determination could wane when you don't find the results you're looking for and even if you feel stuck in the mud, you know this won't last forever. Give yourself a little bit of a break and see if someone close has any suggestions.

Leo (July 23 - Aug 22)- Instincts are everything this week! Like a baby bird taking flight for the first time.. there may be some bumps, but you know what's right and what you need to do. The choice is yours on whether or not to jump! You're ready to take things to the next level, but change can be scary for anyone. If you're hesitating, look at the reason for it. Just because others do things one way, doesn't mean it's the same way for you! If you find yourself met with opposition, just make sure you are being realistic in your expectations. Your determination will see you through.

Virgo (Aug 23 - Sept 22)- You've had these plans in the works for a while and now it's time to give it a go! Though, just make sure you don't find yourself snapping at others if you start to fell they're getting in your way or taking up too much of your time. They just want you to take a break at some point!! But you might be working for their benefit and could even be happy with a little bit of isolation for a change. You'll just want to be sure you DO take a break or you could end up resenting all the hard work you're doing!

Libra (Sept 23 - Oct 22)- This week could leave you feeling as though your relationships are on shaky ground, and your feelings may be equally warranted or they could be needless worry! Take the time to address your concerns and clear out any imbalances that are in the way. There could be inconsistencies with others or you may feel as though they aren't holding up their end of the deal. Don't become preoccupied by the obstacles if you can't seem to find a way to make it work. There could be a reason why the stability isn't there. Make sure all involved are working towards the same purpose!

Scorpio (Oct 23 - Nov 21)- You're riding the wave of pleasure and abundance this week! It just seems to happen that way with you at times.. even when you wipeout, you get back up and go again! You've felt content with the way life has been playing out and even when you find yourself uninspired, you know it won't last forever. This card is one of material or physical gain, though it might come about in a way you hadn't expected. There's no reason for you to question it though, you're just happy that once again you're given exactly what you wanted. Just don't get too greedy!

Sagittarius (Nov 22 - Dec 21)- Usually you're full of optimism, but this week you could be setting yourself up for a pretty big fall! This card is telling you to check yourself before you wreck yourself!! There's no reason to question everything, but if you're putting all your eggs in one basket or hoping that one change is all that's needed, then think again! You might need to reach out to someone who has a different outlook to help you see the light at the end of the tunnel, otherwise you might keep the blinders on to what the problem really is.

Capricorn (Dec 22 - Jan 19)- This week you could find yourself stuck in the past. Or maybe more of just wanting to pick and choose from the past what is fitting in your current situations! Don't dwell on the negatives or kicking yourself now for what you think you should've done. Each experience has it's purpose whether it be good or bad. You'll realize that it's made you exactly who you are! Embrace that!! And remember that some people's rock bottom is another's middle ground. Everyone has their own pain AND pleasure tolerance. You'll need to find where your balance is on your own.

Aquarius (Jan 20 - Feb 18)- You'll be sharing the fruits of your labor with others this week! And if success has been out of your reach, you'll be rewarded by the end of this week for the effort you've put in. This is a very selfless card and resonates with your humanitarian ways! You may also be reminded to be thankful of those that have stood by you in your conquests and of perseverance in all that you've endured. Share your wisdom with those that are near and dear and work with others to create their own happiness as well! After all, we're all in this together!

Pisces (Feb 19 - Mar 20)- Though you're usually a very sweet and caring person, this week you could find your buttons pushed to the max and let out some temper tantrums that NO ONE would expect! Don't try to hide what it is you're upset about, but find a better way to deal with the situations that have been on your plate for a bit now. This is going to remind you to deal with things as they come rather than waiting until the last minute. Alternatively, you may find the work you've done is claimed by someone else. Don't let yourself be taken advantage of.

July 19th - 25th Tarotscopes

So here we are and do y'all feel like summer is starting to wind down with all these back to school ads already starting?! This week brings us some changes as Saturn enters it's two year journey through Libra on the 21st and the Sun makes it's way into Leo on the 22nd! Posts on both these occurrences are forthcoming! Scorpio (Oct 24 - Nov 21)- If ever a time to have some hope were needed, this week is it!! Every avenue just seems to keep leading to a dead end! But you can't let this feeling consume you and you need to realize that it's shared by everyone at some time sooner or later! Keeping faith that you are doing what you can and limiting self doubt, is going to be essential this week. Try not to be resentful if people around you are having a different experience in life. It is a cycle that never ends. Find your passion and faith and remind yourself that "this to shall pass".







Sagittarius (Nov 22 - Dec 21)- Well, we've all heard the saying "life's not fair"! You might need to wait before a resolution finds itself. If you're bombarded with advice, take it as that! It's still up to you on where you want things to go. If you've been compromising what you believe in, it's time to stand up and let everyone know you won't allow it to go on! But if you've been the one manipulating the situation, you could be faced with some harsh judgment! Don't rush for a decision to settle the situation, you need to allow for some neutrality to come about.







Capricorn (Dec 22 - Jan 19)- You might just find yourself having a EUREKA moment this week! But just as quickly as it shows up, it's gone! But that's how it works. You've been having a time of transformative thinking and may be catching some glimpse of what's to come. It's not a time to become resigned to any changes that could start to manifest now. You must be willing to receive what you're given and understand that either way it's for a reason! This could mean you find yourself being able to help someone in a substantial way as well that could come from a sacrifice by you.






Aquarius (Jan 20-Feb 18)- This week you might feel as though you've got to find another way to go about things! Any action you take just seems to stall out or in some instances, you could possibly be a little too co-dependent. You'll need to listen to your instincts, but make sure what you hear isn't met with a lack of willpower. Keep an eye out on any disagreements that seem to resonate within. You may not want to own up or put the work into what needs to happen, but if you want to have a breakthrough... you know what needs to happen!







Pisces (Feb 19 - Mar 20)- Just because there is competition, doesn't mean it needs to be ruthless! Competition can be healthy too! If you feel you're losing a battle.. just step away and let it solve itself. You don't need to be the hero! Just make sure if you're going to dish it out, that you can take it too! You'll be surprised at the situations you find yourself in this week, but handling it with charm and wit will serve you well! This isn't a time where anyone needs to feel a resistance to their efforts. If there's too many chiefs, there's no tribe to lead.

New Moon in Cancer ~ Solar Eclipse!

Just as Venus will be reminding us to take stock of things, this Solar Eclipse in Cancer on July 11th, will be challenging us individually to really break free from what's holding us back. Because Cancer is a sign that has a tendency to cling to the past, emotions may run deep as we try to figure out what will bring the depths of nurturing and security we're looking for.

The Sun and Moon are the 2 most important "planets" in your chart. Technically they aren't planets, but are luminaries, since they give off light! The Sun represents our emotional security or insecurities, temperament and attachments. The Moon is our feelings and our perception of emotions. When the Sun and Moon are activated together, it creates an intense energy flow between the Sun (consciousness) and the Moon (feelings).

Throughout the Moon's cycles, there is a death and rebirth happening. During the New Moon we let our instincts lead us. While in Cancer, focus will be on your feelings of dependency, home comforts, family matters, past memories, fears, and our true passions. This New Moon with it's Cancer/Capricorn influence will help us push past anything weighing us down and GET REAL with where we want our life's path to go!

Now don't get into a tizzy the all of a sudden things are magickally going to get figured out! That's not the point. The energy from eclipses is technically activated for about 6 months or so. But the focus needs to be baby steps. One small step leads to another, and another, and so on. Give yourself the peace in knowing there is always a new sunrise and sunset each and every day. This is the time to get back to your roots.

Everyone will feel this energy differently, just as I last talked about with the Venus in Virgo post. Those with a planet or angle between 17 and 21 degrees of Cancer or Capricorn, may feel the strength of the eclipse more directly. So let's take a look at how this might effect your sign!


Aries (March 21 - April 19)- This Eclipse activates your 4th House, bringing focus to your home and family. Events from the past may unexpectedly have you thinking of how it affects you in the present. You might also find yourself wanting to tackle home projects that you've put off to make your home more how you've wanted it to be or if relocation has been on your mind, this may be the start of that action! Any social connections at your house are sure to bring you deep emotional satisfaction. Your appreciation for family is easily shown.

Taurus (April 20 - May 20)- You may feel a strong drive to achieve what you've been looking for through intellect and mental accomplishments as the Eclipse sits in your 3rd House of communication and intelligence. The 3rd House also indicates siblings and neighbors, so you may be inspired to work on the relationship and become closer. This will be a time to expand and communicate your ideas! If you have a special talent, you might find satisfaction in teaching others your skill. Since this is also a time of increased awareness, establishing a meditation routine may prove beneficial!

Gemini (May 21 - June 20)- Finances will focus in heavily for with the Eclipse hanging out in your 2nd House of income and worth. It might be tough to realize what's serving it's purpose for you and what's expendable! Especially as Venus is making it's way through your 4th House, your home! You may be living beyond your means. A change may be necessary, but taking the leap of faith might just be what it takes to have you see what you're really living for! Humility can be a hard lesson to learn. You may start to question your understanding of security.

Cancer (June 21 - July 22)- Here the Solar Eclipse is at it's most intense! If you've held yourself back due to fear of not succeeding, well you've already done just that! This Eclipse is represented in your 1st House, your personality and approach. You are not one to flaunt your ego, you genuinely care! Your will and self awareness are abundant! Don't let your Cancerian self hold that nurturing in, share it and spread the love! You have strong recuperative abilities that let you bounce back from any struggle that's been happening. Just be careful of impatience and compulsiveness.

Leo (July 23 - August 22)- With the Eclipse in your 12th House you may need to re-evaluate the signals you subconsciously broadcast. This is not the time to lose faith in your goals. but you might be surprised if you shift your focus from recognition for your actions to feeling fulfilled by the service you're providing. Do not give your control over to others thinking they have the answers. This is the time to listen to your inner voice, rely on your intuition and take time for some self contemplation. Evaluate things honestly and acknowledge your faults AND your virtues!

Virgo (August 23 - September 22)- This emotional Cancer Eclipse finds itself in your 11th House, the house of groups and friendships. You may find this energy as being restricted or be faced with pressure from others. With Venus now in your sign as well, you would do best to trust your actions are done with the best intentions. You may be the one that needs to take the lead in organizing a group experience if you want to spread your humanitarianism. At this time, you may find your interest in occult subjects are heightened as well and you can easily research the information you look for.

Libra (September 23 - October 22)- You might feel a struggle to make you place in the world with this Solar Eclipse in your 10th House of career success and status. If you're looking for power or fame, you need to realize it comes with price! Don't feel as though you are entitled to authority. Finding a balance between owning your power and when to give it over to someone else may key at this time. The ambition to succeed is there, be sure the reason you're working so hard is really what you want at the end result!

Scorpio (October 23 - November 21)- This Solar Eclipse hits your 9th House of philosophy, higher education, traditions and spiritual matters. As Venus is in your 11th House, you may find yourself achieving the education you dreamed of, as the 11th House also shows our hopes and dreams! This also can be a time to travel (also 9th House) if your heart desires. This is not a time to be limiting of yourself or condescending, you'll need to keep an open mind. Use this time to find your inspiration and harness the energy to realize your highest hopes!

Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)- As this Solar Eclipse finds itself in your 8th House, your house of shared resources, physical, psychological, spiritual and psychic evolution; you may experience this energy in many ways over the next couple of months! Your self esteem may find itself reborn, like the phoenix rising from the ashes! You feel things are at a turning point and you're ready to start doing things out of love rather than necessity! You are usually one that is honest and don't hold back what's on your mind. Stand true with what you feel and believe!

Capricorn (December 22 - January 19)- You might find yourself looking at your relationships in a new light as the New Moon in Cancer is opposite your sign. This Eclipse finds itself in your 7th House of partnerships. You have been wanting emotional fulfillment and as Venus transits your 9th house, new ideas may weave their way into your life bringing you into contact with cultures you have been fascinated with. Perhaps learning a foreign language, or taking a meditation or yoga class will have you meeting those you would like to bring into your life! Now is a time to bring conscious expanding growth.

Aquarius (January 20 - February 18)- During this Eclipse, it'll hit your 6th House, house of health and daily routines. If things have been in a slump, it's time to see if the way you've been going about it is really the right way. You may be spreading yourself out a little too much! Try to find the focus you need as Venus finds itself in the transformative 8th House. Also, if you've had any health problems, now would be the time to address them. Establishing a routine for a healthy body and mind can be beneficial!

Pisces (February 19 - March 20)- This Eclipse finds you well and it lands in your 5th House, house of creativity, children and hobbies. There may end up being an emotional "block" that comes about, but it's more about the lesson that there's a time for play and a time when work needs to be done! This may further be enhanced by Venus in your 7th house. If you have children, take time to play games with them that you enjoyed.. or if your older, there's nothing wrong with a couple of beers for an adult game night either!

Venus enters Virgo ~ Evaluate and Appreciate

 Hopefully you've enjoyed Venus' jaunt through Leo the last few weeks and got your socializing and shopping spree's out of the way! Not that we don't all need to throw caution to the wind at times! But now that she will be in Virgo from July 10th to August 6th, we will be taking note self-consciously and maybe approaching things a little more cautiously.

Venus shows us our material values, how we approach love, powers of attraction, the appreciation of others, socialization, and the manner in which you express affection. In Leo, she is dynamic and waiting for that Prince Charming to put her on a pedestal. With Venus in Virgo, we have more patience to see the diamond in the rough or at times can stir up negative aspects of being over critical or judgmental.

Virgo is fair and just. Give it to her straight! As Venus transits Virgo, we must remember this is a sign were it's in it's fall. This means that the planet is in the opposite sign that rules it! What happens when a planet is in it's fall is the energy is more easily weakened and can be affected negatively.

In terms of love, we may need to make sure old hurts do not resurface to cause more pain. We'll need to see things as they are and try not to make any excuses. Though at the same time, you'll need to make sure you don't mistake genuine thoughtfulness! When Venus moves into Libra, true appreciation will be realized.

Since Venus also rules our money and finances, giving a double take over your budget at this time also proves beneficial! We all enjoy buying things that aren't needed, but we also hate to be surprised when an unexpected expense shows up! This can be a time that we realize how we treat our finances is also tied in with how we value our own self-worth.

Now of course, we don't all have the same chart.. so Venus is going to affect us differently! I personally, had a rather busy month last month that included my solar return, Venus return, AND Mars return! As you can see, it's a pretty interesting Venus return!

Currently, Venus is now in my 1st house and about to conjunct my natal Mars. I'll need to make sure I keep a level head about any obstacles I perceive and try not to act in an aggressive or impatient manor! But I am starting to already feel the pull in an artistic way as well in putting more passion and expression in my work!

While Venus makes her way through Virgo we'll be blessed with doing away with the things that are no longer serving us well so that when she enters into Libra, we're rewarded for the "sacrifices" (or maybe it's more regaining our common sense!), we've made and come to a more balanced understanding of what we really appreciate in life!

Expect the Unexpected

Ok so, I apologize that Tarotscopes did not get posted!! And after I made a big stink about them possibly going out on Sunday.. it's just one of those weeks peeps! Some time ya just gotta learn to roll with it. On a plus side, I do have a lush new lawn! So, you're probably asking yourself what that pic is too... Well, that's another thing I've been working on... EVP's!!!! It's the spectral graphic of the clip. Now I know I've said more than enough times I have one that will knock your socks off... I've been trying to work with the audio, but I haven't spent enough time in the program I've been using to get it tweaked to perfection. I'm sure given some time, I'll figure it out! I've got an air conditioning unit right outside my window.. it's not the quietest. LOL! If someone has any tips or tricks to equalizing and noise reduction for EVP's I'm all ears! Believe me, if I can get some of the stuff I hear but others don't, that would be pretty nice too! Anyways.. here he, and I believe she, is!

Now I gotta remind you that I've been doing a lot of these recordings either with a ghost box, or Frank's box, and like this one I'm sharing; while I'm asleep. I use an Olympus DM-420 for recording. The weird thing is that most of the one's that happen when I'm asleep, usually occur at the same times when recording! I kinda wanted to just have an idea of maybe what sort of activity might be going on while I'm sleeping... Boy, have I been surprised!!!

So, at first you will hear a sigh. Then there is a male's voice that I hear saying "expecting me?". Now, next is a tough one because it almost sounds like my voice in the background a little. But you can definitely make out a whisper saying either "there's no fear in us" or "fear us". It's tough since it almost seems like I answer "no" while asleep, after the man, but either before or as part of the answer. I plan to work on this one quite a bit more since there's about 5 hours of recording on it and this one is a good one, but I still have many, MANY, more that need help. I haven't even made any new recordings in the last 2 months because I already have so many available. Though I am also planning on making a list of questions and work with the ghost box a little more to see what we can produce there! I've already received some answers there regarding a "vortex"!!!
