Celebrate Imbolc ~ Inspire Yourself!

Happy Imbolc!! This is actually one of my favorite holidays. Well, actually I enjoyed it a lot more when I lived up north as it really was a time where you knew that you were half way through Winter. Especially when Groundhog's Day would be so close and you'd be hoping that he didn't see his shadow and Spring would come early. And it looks like this year it's happening as Punxsutawney Phil didn't see his shadow! But not so fast, technically the start of Spring is March 20th when the Sun moves into Aries at the Spring Eqiunox (Ostara). Which even if he did happen to see his shadow and there would be 6 more weeks of Winter, it's still about the same amount of time anyways!!

Imbolc is also known as Candlemas, Brigantia, Lupercus, Disting and various other names for different countries and traditions! All the celebrations revolve around the banishment of Winter. Brigid, Brighde, Brigit, or Brede; among other spellings, is the primary Goddess associated with this holiday and her name means "bright one". She is a triple Goddess in that she has the qualities of Maiden, Mother, and Crone. She is the Goddess of inspiration, creativity, poetry, prophecy, healing/medicine, fertility, fire, smithcrafting, and other crafts. I like to think of her as a can do crafty Mom! Brigid's Crosses are popular to make at this time and actually are very easy, click HERE to learn how! Traditionally they are made to protect the house from fire, but they also associated with keeping away disease and negativity and for protection in general. I actually posted a pic earlier on Facebook of the Dalai Lama holding up a Brigid's Cross while he has been visiting Ireland!

At this time it is good to welcome change! Get yourself out of old ruts and shake up your routine! It might not be the time to delve into Spring cleaning just yet, but you could change some things up such as painting a room, buying some new curtains or bedding, or even some organizational items. This is a time to be celebrating the things that are yet to be born and are waiting to be awakened from Winter's cold slumber. So with that, here is a candle spell for inspiration!!


✪ Spell for Inspiration ✪
Items needed: 3 candles; 1 to represent the Goddess (dark blue or silver), 1 to represent you, and 1 for the inspirational focus. See my post on Manifesting with Candle Magick for a listing of candle colors!!

Arrange the candles in a triangle with the inspirational candle at the top, the Goddess candle to the right (the active side; as She will help guide you to your goal!), and your candle to the bottom left point (the receptive side). Light your candles in the reverse order as placed; left (you), Goddess (right), inspiration (top). Take a moment to focus on your goal and then say the following:

"Candle bright, burning fire.
Shine within me and inspire.
Listen to the words I speak,
and clear a path to what I seek.
Let my wishes all come true,
as they burn so bright with you!
For the good of all with harm to none,
as I will, let it be done!"

If you are looking for inspiration for writing or other craft work, try doing some while the candles are burning! The energy will be amplified if you start putting some of the work in immediately during the spell itself. Continue to let the candles burn down for as long as possible, preferably completely. But if you can't, take any remnants and either bury them in some dirt, throw them in a body of water, or just toss them in the trash!

Jupiter Turns Direct

Mighty Jupiter turns direct on January 30th, 2013 at 6:37 am EST, completing its retrograde motion that it's been in since October 4th, 2012. Those that have planets close to 6 degrees within Gemini when Jupiter stations direct, or within the other air signs of Libra or Aquarius, are most likely to feel this shift a little stronger. During the retrograde time we focused more on our inner thoughts, consciousness, and growth within ourselves. The next few months as it will finish its time in Gemini, we'll be more willing to share what we've learned and will start wanting to learn more from others as well, before it moves into Cancer on June 25th, 2013; when we will want to take a more stable and traditional approach.

Jupiter rules Sagittarius and while it is in Gemini it is said to be in it's "detriment" since Gemini is opposite to Sagittarius. However, that doesn't mean that it's really a "bad" thing, it just means the energy reacts a little differently; as it does in any sign! The sign in which Jupiter is in shows us what we're looking to expand on and how we will benefit from our actions. While it's retrograde, we tend to hold that action back and go through a pro vs. con list. Now that it's starting to move "forward" again, we can start taking that action! Because it is the first of the outer planets, it also represents a broader sense of social and spiritual philosophy. Being in Gemini we can think on a grander scale, maybe those lofty ideas aren't so out of reach! We're also more willing to understand different cultures and learning a new language at this time seems to be somewhat easier. If you've been wanting to brush up on a foreign language, now is the time! Going on a trip, even if it isn't somewhere long distance and just ends up being something completely new to you, will be more easily appreciated as well. I know for me that I'll be utilizing the influence of the writing side of things that comes from Jupiter being in Gemini!! So if you've neglected a blog, started writing a book and haven't finished, or you just want to find time to read a book (count me in on that one as well!), you can definitely use this time to you advantage! I have noticed quite a few people have been having more psychic/intuitive experiences as well as Jupiter is getting closer to turning direct; so if this is something that interests you; expanding on your own abilities would be something that would be benefited by this energy!

Now is the time to focus on the more long term goals that you have and the various routes you can take to achieve them. It isn't set on the straight and narrow and reminds us that life has twists and turns and even some great storms! Utilizing the energy to it's full capabilities will have you realizing that there are always multiple options available in any situation!

January 28th - February 3rd Tarotscopes

Go Red For Women @ the American Heart Association!

Wow... So here we are finishing out the first month of the new year! I swear I've been paying attention more to the firsts going on. Maybe because we survived the 2012 apocalypse. LOL! But it could just be because I have an 18 month old and 6 month old running the household a little more these days, so it's ALL about "firsts"! And this is one reason why I went with the graphic that I did too.

I could have put the focus more on the fact that Jupiter is turning direct or that Imbolc is coming up, but I'm pretty sure I'll manage to get posts in for it. At least that's what I'm hoping to manage to finish up! Anyways, I wanted to bring more attention to the dangers of heart disease. Being in my 30's, I'm fast approaching that time where I'll be joining ranks of yearly mammograms, yea. Actually I was told I should start doing it next year. But unfortunately, I lost one grandmother to breast cancer and the other to heart disease so I'm already at risk. If you're on my facebook, you might have noticed a few weeks back that I mentioned a friend of mine has actually survived a heart attack... and she's younger than me! So that definitely was a wake-up call. I finally decided to give up smoking and have now made it 2 weeks of being smoke free! YEA! And I'm wanting other women to be aware of the risk they may be putting themselves at. So please take a look at the American Heart Association's Go Red For Women and learn how you can reduce your risk!! This will be the first time I wear red on Feb 1st; for my friend, for my grandmother, and for my own health!

Ok, that's my little rant! And now it's time for some fun Tarotscopes!

Aries (Mar 21 - Apr 19)- With your ruling planet Mars entering Pisces and your 12th house of enlightenment on Friday, you can expect to feel a pull during the week. Usually you have no problems asserting yourself, but your feelings of self-doubt are going to end up creeping in and might leave you feeling like you're not being honest with what is truly going to make you happy. Allow yourself to take some time to figure things out. You don't need to force yourself to make a decision with things and try not to let others make decisions for you, although it might be easier to let that happen!

Taurus (Apr 20 - May 20)- If you've been ready for things to get better in your career, once your ruling planet Venus, that also rules money, moves into your 10th house of career on Friday, things will finally start to look up! There may also be some communication that comes from a woman bringing some good news for you or a woman you are close with will be able to offer some advice about the direction you should take. This is going to be a great week to work on some creativity as well in some capacity. Being able to take pride in your talent will give you a boost in your self-esteem!

Gemini (May 21 - June 20)- This week you'll need to be careful of how you present your thoughts and communicate with others with your ruling planet Mercury in your 9th house of philosophy! It might come out the wrong way and you might be feeling like no one understands you! And you could be alienating yourself by having too much "authority". Try not to close yourself off to the opinions that others might have, you could learn something in a way you hadn't considered before. You may also need to be somewhat suspicious of others intentions if you feel you're being led astray. You need to know who you can trust!

Cancer (June 21 - July 22)- Emotionally you're feeling the "wane" after Saturday's Full Moon and could be asking yourself how much is TOO much! You'll need to really take a look at what you're wanting to achieve and whether or not you'll be able to handle the demands. If you're trying to make things easier for others, you might just be demanding too much of yourself. Just make sure that you don't give up because somewhere with what you're trying to accomplish, IS your true desire! Right now it's just a balancing act of trying to figure out work with play. You can't always take things in life too seriously!

Leo (July 23 - Aug 22)- The weekend's Full Moon in your sign left you feeling that you could have it all! And the feelings continue as the Sun is currently in your 7th house of balance! However, you are going to need to figure out where to start first. You can't have too many irons in the fire or you'll just end up burning out this positive energy! Take this time to decide what will bring you the best results. You'll also be feeling that you're able to get a lot closer to others at this time as well. Be thankful for those that really understand and stick by you through thick and thin!

Virgo (Aug 23 - Sept 22)- Things are starting to feel a little more stable! And with the Sun and your ruling planet Mercury in your 6th house of routines, you've been able to get things in line. But that doesn't mean you're able to rest on your laurels just yet. There's still a lot to accomplish and if you take a break now, you might be starting over again. You can see the clearing through the forest, you just need to keep going! You might also be receiving some surprising news this week or someone you haven't heard from in a while might be coming back into your life.

Libra (Sept 23 - Oct 22)- You'll be feeling your inspiration flowing this week as the Sun is already shining through your 5th house of creativity and your ruling planet Venus joins the party on Friday! You might not know where you're going, but you also don't really care right now! As long as you're having a good time is all that matters. The past was a learning experience and you'll be able to apply what was relevant, but the negativity that was around is now going to stay there and you're able to move forward with a lot more optimism. Enjoy your enthusiasm for life and share it with others!

Scorpio (Oct 23 - Nov 22)- You'll need to keep with the progress you're making, even if it's been a little more frustrating than you anticipated! The changes you've been working towards will soon be realized, it's just going to take some time. You don't need to feel as though things are failing, your courage will help you see things through. Others may want to convince you otherwise though. No matter what happens to come your way this week, you'll be able to take things in stride and come to the best conclusion to get what you need to succeed! Sagittarius (Nov 22 - Dec 21)- With your ruling planet Jupiter turning direct this week, expect things to be changing within your relationships! This could be good or bad depending on how you want to look at it! Even if things do come to the forefront that you hadn't wanted to admit to, now is the time to clear the air. Being able to be honest has usually never been a problem for you, but this time it could be tough to find the words you want and need to say. It's true that others around you will only be as happy as you are. It's time to close the door on the past!

Capricorn (Dec 22 - Jan 19)- Take this energy this week and run with it! With your ruling planet Saturn in your 11th house of hopes and dreams and the Sun in your 2nd house of self-worth, you might just be feeling like things have finally turned a new leaf! You're realizing that sometimes you just have to go with the flow and be adaptable to changing situations, even if you can't see the rainbow after the rain! This comes with a deeper feeling of gratitude for your struggles as well. When Venus joins your 2nd house on Friday, treat yourself to something special! Aquarius (Jan 20 - Feb 19)- Even with so many planets in your sign right now, this week you might be feeling you're being forced to deal with things you might not be ready for! At this time it won't be what you can achieve for others or what you can do on your own, but being open to accepting others to come into your life and assisting you more. Emotionally you're able to understand things on a grander scale, but it can be tough to understand your own needs. It's ok to be a little indulgent at times! Let go of your doubts and allow yourself to truly be free!

Pisces (Feb 20 - Mar 18)- Things this week might be a little rough emotionally and you might need to find some hope! Even if it's the slightest bit. And really it could be that you're just focused on the negative side of things! There's always a reason these things happen. Allow others to lend you a shoulder or an ear! Keeping the faith that you are doing what you can and limiting any anxiety you have will be essential this week. If others can't understand where you're coming from, try not to be irritated by it. Give yourself permission to take a break. It'll all come together when it needs to!

Full Moon in Leo

The Full Moon in Leo occurs at 11:38 PM EST on Saturday and is the first Full Moon of the new year! With the energy being on the Leo/Aquarius axis the feeling of creativity within ourselves that we can share with others is brought to light! The ruler of Leo is, of course, our life force the Sun. Leo rules the 5th house; our house of creativity, among other things. It's one reason I picked the picture to use. I LOVE Etsy!! There are some awesomely creative artists on there! And sooner or later I'll be putting up some of my work there; both artwork and magickal items that I make such as incense, herbal body sprays and perfumes, household sprays, etc. Aquarius' rules the 11th house; our house of friendships and hopes and dreams. The traditional ruler of Aquarius is Saturn which also is the ruler of Capricorn.

And so the The New Moon in Capricorn that occurred on January 11th, gave us the need to find direction and security in our emotions. Now that we're at the Full Moon we are at a culminating point of feeling that the way we express our individuality will directly affect the way we feel about ourselves in a way that also reflects our self confidence to others... But that's not always so easy to come to terms with at times either and we all have our own doubts with the hopes and dreams we wish to achieve. So what better time than the Full Moon to cast a spell to cast out our doubts! Saturday is ruled by Saturn as well, and since Saturn can be a little restrictive in nature, usually spells are done in a way of binding or banishing. You see how everything just seems to fall into place together? Such is the way of nature! And so, here we are with a spell to get rid of self doubt and to pick ourselves up with some confidence. Of course, you can alter it if you like!!


✪ Spell to Cast Out Self-Doubt ✪
Items needed: a red or pink candle (for self love), white candle (for cleansing), black candle (for banishing), salt (preferably sea salt), sugar, 2 pieces of paper, and 2 heat resistant bowls.

*Before the actual working you may wish to take a bath and place some salt in it as well to draw out any negativity, or a shower and visualize the water bathing you in white light!

Arrange the 3 candles in a triangle with the red candle on the left side (the receptive side), the black candle on the right side (the active side), and the white candle at the top of the triangle (the divine). Place the 2 bowls between the top candle and side candles.. this sorta makes a star out of the items! In the bowl on the left, place some sugar; in the bowl on the right, place some salt. Make sure you keep a little of the salt and sugar handy for the next part!

Take one of your pieces of paper and write down all your doubts and fears. Really get it all out there of what you're scared to achieve, any insecurities you feel, etc.. Place this in the bowl of salt. Take your other piece of paper and write down all that you're wanting to achieve, your positive attributes, etc.. Place this in the bowl of sugar.

Now take the paper from the salt, sit and think for a moment of the feelings and really FEEL the energy that comes from this worry, fear, anxiety... then say: "I bind my low self-esteem and doubt. With these feelings, I can do without. Take this negativity away from me. And as I will, so mote it be!". Light the black candle and burn your paper of doubt and fear in the salt bowl and toss some more salt into it to cast out your fears!

Then take the paper from the sugar and sit and think about how much you're appreciated by others, the friendships you have, the creativity that is within you and the hopes and dreams you want to achieve. Bring this energy into you and feel yourself expand in hopefulness! Then say: "I bring to myself creativity and love. With blessings from the divine above. These changes that I need to see. And as I will, so mote it be!". Light the red or pink candle and burn your paper of hopes and dreams in the sugar bowl and toss some more sugar into it for sweet blessings!

Take a moment to watch these 2 candles burn and feel yourself letting go of the fears as they're replaced with of feelings of love, hope, strength and the desire to achieve the best that you can! Hear the roar of the mighty lion!!

Now light the white candle and continue to feel, and visualize yourself as confident, creative, and successful. Then say: "For the good of all, with harm to none. As I will, let it be done!".

Continue to let the candles burn down for as long as possible, preferably completely. But if you can't, take any remnants and either bury them in some dirt, throw them in a body of water, or just toss them in the trash!

January 21st - 27th Tarotscopes

I had seen another MLK Jr. quote earlier in the week that I had wanted to use, but alas, I can't remember where I had put it and then when I saw this one I thought WOW, this one is just 10x even better!!

Lately, I've seen a lot of derogatory comments being made about the President and well, just comments in general that are really hateful and coming from a place where it just seems people would rather separate themselves from others that might have a different opinion than themselves. Even friendships are being affected! Diversity is GREAT! And RESPECT is awesome. And that's really something everyone deserves. It doesn't matter if you completely agree with someone, you don't even have to agree at all, just respect their right to an opinion. There's no reason to have so much hate!! With LOVE, ANYTHING is possible!

So with that.. Here's MY take on what's coming for the upcoming week.. though you might see the cards differently! ;)

Aries (Mar 21 - Apr 19)- Your ruling planet is in your 11th house of hopes and dreams and you might be feeling a little lost right now. You might even be feeling like you're "owed" and are tired of it seeming like everything needs to be a struggle. Even if you thought you had it all figured out and things still haven't panned out the way you planned. It doesn't mean you should give up! Pick yourself up and give things another go! You could really be surprised that giving things another chance might bring. This week reminds me of the Japanese Proverb; "Fall down seven times, stand up eight". Don't let your attitude stand in the way of success!

Taurus (Apr 20 - May 20)- This week you can expect things to be changing! And possibly at a quick pace! Just make sure you have all the facts with things or you might feel something is being overlooked. Don't go along with things you don't trust or you could find yourself regretting it later! If you've already been trying to get things in order, you won't want to create more headaches for yourself. Let yourself get into a steady routine before you think you've come to the end of the road. At least you're headed in the right direction with things, but it's not time to celebrate just yet.

Gemini (May 21 - June 20)- Emotionally you're feeling like you need to look at things in a different light! Maybe you've been too hasty in your decisions. Trying to get your head and your heart to match up might be a little tough to manage right now. Just don't make excuses for anyone's actions; whether they be yours or someone else! See things for what they are and accept them. What's able to change, will.. and what won't, well, that's just the way it is for now! Everyone has their own way of emotionally and mentally handling things. Decide what you really want and need!

Cancer (June 21 - July 22)- After last week you're starting to feel a little more "recharged" and you've got a clearer picture for where you're headed. You might even have some new ideas and even a little more inspiration and enthusiasm for what you want to achieve! You're more than willing to put in the work, but you have to make sure you don't burn out! Make sure you give yourself a break and actually ENJOY what you're doing and aren't doing it strictly to get ahead. Find that balance between work and play so you can emotionally stay in a positive state of mind!

Leo (July 23 - Aug 22)- The Full Moon is in your sign on Saturday and you could be feeling as though it's time to let go of things that aren't any good for you. Even past resentments! Your ego or pride may still be reeling from it and wishing things would have been different. But it's time to move on and give yourself a break from what could have been. Tomorrow is a new chance and opportunity where you can change things completely. When there's obstacles in the way, you can overcome them as long as you face them confidently! Even if you have to tackle them alone!

Virgo (Aug 23 - Sept 22)- Could things seem any more perfect this week?! Your ruling planet Mercury is currently in your 6th house of routines; notice how the Lovers is the 6th card?! The Lovers is also represented by Gemini, also represented by Mercury.. 2 halves of a whole. You've figured out what works! After last week's shakeup, you're seeing the bigger picture! Merging your thoughts and feelings with your actions. While you might not be complete aware of what you're doing, just keep doing it! Even if it seems like things are out of your comfort zone, the more you make something a habit, the easier it will be!

Libra (Sept 23 - Oct 22)- With your ruling planet Venus in your 4th house of stability you might be feeling you'll need to take a different approach to things. You're usually rather fair and willing to see the sides to every story, but this time the decisions are going to be on you to decide where you really stand. And if you're not ready to give a "ruling" yet, that's fine too. Don't feel like you have to rush things. Everyone needs some time to themselves. Take some time to really think about what you want. Compromising is one thing, but you shouldn't need to compromise yourself for happiness.

Scorpio (Oct 23 - Nov 21)- And just when you thought you had it all figured out, you're starting to wonder if you've made the right decisions! AGAIN! It's ok to make sure you have things in place, but you might be obsessing a little this week. If you feel like you've been going at things alone, you might have put yourself in that position. Reach out if you need to and get another perspective. Or maybe you didn't want to really listen to someone the first time! You might have a total change of heart with things if you take a better look at what you're trying to achieve.

Sagittarius (Nov 22 - Dec 21)- Last week you had been on top of the world, this week you might be more in your own little world! Don't get too lost in thinking that you know best though. Especially with Saturday's Full Moon illuminating your 9th house of higher thought! Your way is NOT the only way! If you didn't look for that helping hand I mentioned, it could be time to do it before you miss the opportunity. You need to realize that your responsibilities are not a burden, it's just part of life. As much as you'd like to think things are just fine, don't let your emotions get the better of you.

Capricorn (Dec 22 - Jan 19)- I thought I said last week "no excuses"?! If you HAVE been able to lift the burdens from yourself, don't feel sorry for someone else... that's still an excuse! Everyone has to do their fair share in things! The Full Moon occurs on Saturday in your 8th house of transformation. Take it's energy and use it to your advantage to stand up for yourself! If you're feeling it won't make a difference, you won't know until you try! You're not usually one to give up easily, but you shouldn't be taking on more than you need to either. Just keep going, it'll pay off!

Aquarius (Jan 20 - Feb 18)- Synchronicity abounds!! The Sun just moved into your sign... and here it is! The Sun is our energy, it's what gives everything life and sustains us. This week you will feel a complete renewal of hope. It won't matter if you don't have the answers because just having the chance to make things different is alright by you! You're ready to shine a little brighter and you want everyone else to have the chance to shine too. For you, every little bit of effort amounts to something. For you humanitarian water bearer's this reminds me of the quote by Ryunosuke Satoro "Individually, we are one drop. Together, we are an ocean.".

Pisces (Feb 19 - Mar 20)- You could find yourself a little irritable this week.  Especially if you feel like you need to step into a role that you don't like being in. This could leave you feeling as though others may be a little unreliable and that you're needing to do things more on your own. But you could be doubting your capabilities. Stand strong and you'll show everyone what you're made of! You might even surprise yourself! Taking things on you might be unsure of will give you more confidence, even if you have to fake it til ya make it!











I have to be complete honest with y'all... I was NOT in the mood to be writing. If you follow my Twitter, you'll know that I've been quitting smoking! And believe me, when I first pulled the cards it was more than apparent I was not in the zone and they sure did "yell" at me! I'll most definitely be blogging about that soon when it comes to reading the cards! But "we" got things straight and I gotta say, the second run made a lot more sense!!

Sun Enters Aquarius

The Sun moves into Aquarius tomorrow and I'm going to try my best to refrain from singing that song.. even though it's playing in my head on repeat! I absolutely LOVE Aquarians! Maybe it's because it's my Moon sign or maybe just because I love their uniqueness and way of processing information!

Aquarians strive to be themselves and are fiercely independent, but are also very consciously aware of the compassion they have for humanity. While they generally will be very accepting of others ideals, they also can be exceptionally stubborn with their own. They can sometimes be considered standoffish when really they're just lost deep in thought! Intellectually they can be very gifted at working out complex situations; and may even have a touch of genius to them. Aquarius also rules technology so take some time with getting your social networking where you want it to be! Communication at times may be tough since it may seem more calculated than emotional, but there is a balance between their head and heart! However, you will be able to trust an Aquarius because they know the truth will set you free! Plus, they just don't want to be caught up in any drama!

So let's take a real quick look at how this Aquarian energy affects you for the next month!


Aries or Aries Ascendant- Now that the Sun in in your 11th house of community, you could be ready to take  things to another level with what you contribute in society. You're a born leader and can motivate others to take action, but be careful that you don't come across as tyrannical! Just make sure that you have the complete facts and that you don't do anything too reckless!
